Missouri football signs 23 players on National Signing Day

Missouri football officially signed 23 recruits on National Signing Day, including ESPN's No. 2 overall recruit in the 2015 class. My co-contributor and I compared how Missouri's 2015 signees compares to previous classes. We also looked at where each recruit is from, and two mid-Missouri recruits Mizzou missed out on.

Eight players from the Missouri Tigers football team were named to All-SEC teams between the Associated Press and SEC coach selections. My co-contributor and I examined why some players were selected and others weren't. We also compared how this season's players compared to other all-conference players from previous seasons for Mizzou.

The events that enfolded out of the events in Ferguson, Missouri, after former police officer Darren Wilson shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown was a polarizing topic on who to blame for the toll of young black men killed by police officers. I put together a timeline of KOMU 8's coverage of the events in Ferguson a few days after a grand jury's decision not to indict Wilson.
Target 8 Investigation: 75 percent of lobbying gifts not shown in lawmakers' records

Missouri is the only state that puts no restriction on how much and what type of gifts lobbyists can give lawmakers. During a two-year period lobbyists spent $1.8 million on gifts for Missouri lawmakers. I worked with a reporter to put together a map showing the approximate location of 10 Missouri legislators that receive the most amount of money from lobbyists.

KOMU 8 News investigated police protest policies and military equipment following the protests in Ferguson, Missouri, following the shooting of unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown. Protests and rioting sparked a national discussion about how to best handle civil disturbances and the use of military equipment by local law enforcement agencies.

The 12th annual True/False Film Fest, a critically acclaimed documentary film festival in Columbia, Missouri, kicked off. I helped create a guide on the changes to come in 2015, an interactive chart of the growth of the festival, the history of KOMU 8's coverage of True/False and a complete breakdown of the films that received recognition from the Academy Awards.
